What was the event?:
Debbie and I attended Applied Net 2019, which was held in Las Vegas this year. Applied Net is the largest technology gathering among independent agents, brokers and insurers from across the globe. It is a one-of-a-kind learning opportunity with valuable insight, tools and techniques required to succeed in the digital revolution of insurance. There were keynote speakers, hands-on and one-on-one training, and 60+ software partners. Over 240 courses were offered which included leadership, marketing, accounting, tips and tricks, product specific and administration. Applied Net also provided forums to network with other users of Applied technology and learn best practices from agencies who face the same challenges that we face.
Why did you attend?:
We have resources for technology and software support through a phone call or an online chat. On several occasions, those vendor and other users have mentioned “You should attend Applied Net. There are classes to address different types of scenarios as well as hands on training, and networking. You learn so much!!” They were right!!
What did you learn?:
The ideas and education we received from being able to meet face-to-face with others in our industry has given us some great ideas on how to streamline processes, market our agency and maximize the value of the Applied products we use at our agency. We both attended “tips and tricks” classes and are excited to bring that information back to share with our co-workers.
Do MI staff often attend professional learning opportunities?:
As insurance agents, we are required to attend continuing education courses to maintain our insurance licenses. We also encourage agents to take classes for additional product knowledge and assist them in their specific job duties.
Why is professional development important to MI staff?:
Insurance and technology is always changing. We need to keep up to ensure employees have the correct technology to be able to work as efficiently as possible and Marshfield Insurance Agency continues to be a valuable resource for our customers and their insurance needs.
