Nick Arnoldy, Owner/Broker of Marshfield Insurance, is in Washington D.C. to meet with Senator Ron Johnson and Representatives Bryan Steil & Scott Fitzgerald. The purpose? To tackle two critical issues affecting Main Street America and the insurance industry.
First on the agenda was opposition to looming tax increases that could have hit small businesses hard. Nick threw his support behind The Main Street Tax Certainty Act (S. 1706 & H.R. 4721), aiming to make permanent the 20% small business deduction passed in the 2017 Tax Cuts & Jobs Act. This deduction has been crucial for many independent insurance agencies, including Marshfield Insurance, helping them keep their doors open, pay their staff, and serve their clients and communities better. Letting it expire in 2025 would have meant a significant tax hike for countless small businesses, creating an unfair playing field.
Another pressing issue on the table was the insurance market crisis, making suitable property/casualty (p/c) insurance increasingly unaffordable for millions of Americans. Nick advocated for measures to crack down on lawsuit abuse and promote risk mitigation efforts to ease the strain on the insurance market. Marshfield Insurance supported initiatives like the Protecting Our Courts from Foreign Manipulation Act (S. 2805 & H.R. 5488) and the Disaster Mitigation and Tax Parity Act of 2023 (S. 1953/H.R. 4070) to address these issues head-on.
Additionally, Marshfield Insurance stood firm in support of vital programs such as the Federal Crop Insurance Program (FCIP) and pushed for the extension and reform of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). These programs play a crucial role in supporting farmers facing weather disasters and ensuring comprehensive flood insurance coverage for all Americans.
Arnoldy’s trip to Capitol Hill wasn’t just about Marshfield Insurance – it was about representing Main Street America and the broader insurance industry. Stay tuned for updates on advocacy efforts and our ongoing commitment to protecting what matters most to you.
